Meet the Doctor...

[First off, I feel by writing this I am completing some horrible college assignment that I would ask someone else to write and edit for me.]

Concretely...and in chronological order...I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, an aunt, a doctor, a mother and now a blogger.  This blog represents my opinions in the written form, because I have so many of them.

The Doctor Mom is who I am.  Part Doctor, Part Mom.  All me.

Doctor:  I am a practicing Internist & Pediatrician in a suburb of Detroit.  That means I see patients of all ages. This blog is NOT for the purpose of giving individual medical advice, I do that enough in my day to day life.  I would love to educate other parents with some of the vast amount of information in my small brain that cost me a fortune to obtain, both in hours and in dollars.  I will not charge you for it though; not yet anyway.  It has been a long, hard road to get where I am today; and I would love to share my thoughts about the journey.

I am a doctor.  I believe in prevention.  I believe in immunizations.  I believe in medications when used appropriately.  I also believe in sleep, exercise, eating well, and actively trying to create your own happiness.  I believe that the two hardest things I recommend to patients are quitting smoking and losing weight.  I don't believe in shortcuts.

Mom:  I am a mom to my favorite 2 little creatures on earth.  Both girls.  Sisters that love and want to kill each other, sometimes in the same minute.  They are the focus of my world, and much of this blog.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I believe that being a mom makes me a better doctor, and being a doctor makes me a better mom.

I am a thinker and this blog is an extension of my thoughts.  This is my virtual home. Visitors are welcome.  Come in, stay a while.  Invite friends.  Sign in and leave comments.  Participate in the conversation.

I'd love to hear from you.
